**Why agent > prompt:** The agent can READ the vault. It can check if "Marco" already has a note. It can check what's already IN Marco's note to see if the new info is genuinely new. This produces much fewer false positives than a prompt hook that can only see the conversation context.
**Con:** More expensive. Agent hooks spawn a subagent with multiple tool turns. This fires on every Stop. Could add noticeable latency. The system-design-practices.md warns about context window costs.
**Alternative implementation:** Could be a two-tier system: prompt hook (cheap, fast) fires first as a quick filter. Only if it detects a person mention does it trigger the full agent evaluation. But hooks don't compose this way natively — you'd need the prompt hook to be the outer layer.

**Pro:** No new hooks, no new skills. Extends working, established mechanisms. Consistent with the existing two-layer capture architecture.
**Con:** Only catches people at review time (not real-time). Requires Nick to run `/review-session` or wait for weekly review. Stale context for enrichment questions.
But wait — this doesn't satisfy Nick's "don't want to remember anything" constraint. Nick would have to remember to run `/review-session`. Unless... the auto-log-sessions hook ALSO triggers a person-review pass. Or unless the Stop hook includes a periodic trigger for review-session.

**Layer 4: /weekly-review enhancement** — batch analysis includes people tracking. Final safety net.

The enhancement would be: when I mention someone in conversation who doesn't have a note, I wiki-link them in any notes I create (`[[Marco Bertini]]`) even before asking whether to create their file. The link exists in the graph. The file comes later.
