When you open the dashboard, you see today's sessions as one group, yesterday's as another, etc. Within each group: the conversation title, its summary, the proportional length bar, and the raw turn count. This is the view for "what have I been doing recently" — chronological browsing with enough detail to identify each conversation.
**View 2 — "All Recent":**

Flat table, no grouping. Every session as a row, sorted by recency. Useful when you want to scan across days without the visual grouping, or when you want to use Bases' inline column sorting to reorder by turn count, title, etc.
**View 3 — "Cards":**

Each session as a visual card. Title and summary are prominent, length bar gives instant visual weight, date and age provide temporal context. This is the most scannable view for "I'm looking for a specific conversation and want to skim visually."
Why three views: they serve different lookup patterns. "By Day" for chronological browsing. "All Recent" for structured querying and sorting. "Cards" for visual scanning. Bases lets you switch between views with a tab click.
## 4. Hook integration
The generation script needs to run automatically. Two integration points:
**Daily auto-run:** The `auto-log-sessions-hook.sh` already fires on first prompt of the day (UserPromptSubmit hook, gated by a per-machine state file in `~/.local/state/claude-sessions/`). Currently it calls `auto-log-sessions.py` to backfill daily note session entries. I'd add a second call to `generate-session-logs.py` in the same hook — after the daily note logging finishes, it generates/refreshes the session log notes. Same trigger, same dedup pattern, same once-per-day-per-machine gating.
Why piggyback on the existing hook: no new hook needed, runs at the right time (start of day, before you'd look at the dashboard), already handles per-machine state.
**On-demand refresh:** A skill/command `/refresh-dashboard` that directly calls `generate-session-logs.py`. For when you want to see today's sessions on the dashboard without waiting for tomorrow's auto-run. You'd use this mid-day or end-of-day when the auto-run from this morning hasn't captured today's conversations yet.
## 5. CLAUDE.md update
Add `Session Logs/` to the folder organization section as an auto-generated folder (similar status to Daily Notes/ — active but not manually authored). This tells future Claude sessions what the folder is and not to treat it as a capture target.
## What this gives you in practice
You open `Session Dashboard.base` in Obsidian. You see your last 14 days of conversations, grouped by date, with proper titles, 2-3 sentence summaries, and proportional bars showing which ones were substantial and which were quick. You can switch to cards view to visually scan. You can use Bases' built-in column sorting and filtering to narrow down ("show me only Long conversations" or sort by title alphabetically). Obsidian's search also works — searching for "semiotic physics" would hit the session note's body text.
When a session disappears from Claudian's interface, you go to the dashboard, find it by title/summary/date, and if needed grab the session UUID from the frontmatter to locate the .jsonl file for recovery or continuation.
The dashboard stays current without you doing anything — the hook refreshes it daily. For same-day sessions, `/refresh-dashboard` fills the gap.
