https://www.milanolinate-airport.com/en/assistance/lost-baggage-items can you help me through this lost propery procedure. i lost my passport at linate airport, it seems weird that i can't put 'passport' as my lost item. (see screenshot)

I’m checking the airport’s current lost-property flow and the specific page you linked, so I can tell you whether passports are handled differently from ordinary lost items and what to enter instead.

I’ve got the vault paths; next I’m pulling just today’s and yesterday’s daily notes for session context, then I’ll inspect the airport’s live lost-property instructions.

I checked the current Milan Airports / Foundspot pages today, March 16, 2026. My read is: this is probably intentional, not a bug.
SEA’s official Linate lost-property pages say ordinary lost items go through the [airport lost-property form](https://www.milanolinate-airport.com/en/assistance/lost-baggage-items) and the [SEA Foundspot FAQ](https://www.milanairports.foundspot.com/en/faq) says matched items are returned through that system. But Foundspot’s own airport-partner FAQs explicitly say official identity documents like passports are handed directly to airport authorities, not treated like normal found items. That fits your screenshot, where `passport` won’t validate as a standard item. That last part is an inference from Foundspot’s documented handling plus the behavior of the Linate form.
What I’d do now:
- If you lost it on the plane or in the baggage-claim/customs area, contact your airline’s Lost & Found, because Linate says on-board items are handled by the airline.
- If you lost it in the terminal, security, gate area, bathroom, cafe, etc., don’t force `passport` into the search box. Use the closest category the form allows, ideally `Documents` or `Other`, and in the description write: passport, country, cover color, exact place, exact time window, and your name. I would avoid putting the full passport number there; last 4 digits is safer.
- Call Milan Airports at `+39 02 23.23.23` and ask whether passports found at Linate are being held by SEA Lost Property or by Border Police. That number is in Linate’s current [2025 Service Charter](https://milanairports.com/sites/default/files/2025-04/CDS_Linate_2025.pdf).
- Also call Linate Border Police at `+39 02 70.21.111`, since the same service charter lists that as the airport border-police number.
- If you need to travel soon, contact your embassy/consulate immediately. If it’s a U.S. passport, the State Department says to [report it lost/stolen abroad](https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/emergencies/lost-stolen-passport-abroad.html) and apply in person at a U.S. embassy or consulate for a replacement or emergency passport.
If you want, send me a screenshot of the actual category/subcategory dropdown options and I’ll tell you exactly which one to pick. *Per un passaporto smarrito in aeroporto, la via più sicura è contattare subito la polizia di frontiera e il servizio oggetti smarriti.*
