Each gets roughly one paragraph, similar density, similar rhetorical weight. The reader experiences this as a list of considerations rather than as a structured argument. They can't tell what's the main event and what's a supporting illustration. The section reads like "here are many reasons Floridi is wrong" rather than "here is why Floridi is wrong, and here is why it matters."
A paper that presents nine arguments against a position is paradoxically less persuasive than one that presents two and develops them. Nine arguments reads as "the author isn't sure which one works." Two well-developed arguments reads as "this is clearly the answer."
I think the section needs to distinguish sharply between:

The likeliest/loveliest distinction is the conceptual tool that makes the corpus argument clearest: "Next-token prediction optimises for likeliness. Normally that's bad. But in a corpus filtered for loveliness, likeliness and loveliness converge." That's a clean, precise claim.
Currently, this framework doesn't arrive until ¶10 (line 24), after the corpus argument has already been presented (¶5-8) and illustrated with the grammar analogy (¶9). If the section TRUSTS Section 1's setup, it can be significantly leaner. It doesn't need to re-establish what Williamson and Bengson say — it can presuppose their framework and deploy it. It doesn't need Gaut again. This alone might save 2-3 paragraphs.
### Problem 5: Walton's role is unclear

This reads like the kind of move a model makes when it's being comprehensive rather than strategic. It's addressing a worry the reader hasn't raised yet, in a framework the reader doesn't need. Footnote at most.
### Problem 7: Prose tells
Even in the clean version, there are LLM patterns your comments flagged in the bottom version:
- Triplet examples: "advertising copy, undergraduate boilerplate, or customer-service scripts" (line 14); "Objections are raised at recognisable points. Replies are pressed... Distinctions appear..." (line 20); "Counterexample, distinction, reductio, analogy, dilemma, and repair" (line 34, this one is a SEXTET). These are the "fucking triplet examples" you flagged, slightly less aggressive but still there.
- Even pitch: every paragraph has the same density and rhetorical temperature. No paragraph is noticeably more intense or more relaxed than any other. Your writing varies more — longer sentences that build, shorter ones that deliver verdicts.
- The prose sometimes adds sentences rather than developing them. ¶6 (line 16) lists reasons the corpus is filtered (referees, citation, teaching) rather than developing ONE filtering mechanism and showing why it matters.

### Ideas for restructuring
Here are several options, from conservative to radical:

Then develop this thesis over the remaining paragraphs. This sacrifices the gradual-reveal structure (where the reader discovers the argument as it builds) for clarity. It's a judgement call about what kind of section this should be — a journey of discovery or a thesis-and-defence.
**Option E: Radical compression.** The section currently runs 16+ paragraphs. What if it ran 8-10? Four paragraphs of Floridi exposition (roughly as now, maybe tighter). One paragraph granting and redirecting. Two paragraphs developing the corpus argument with the Lipton convergence claim as the centrepiece. One paragraph on self-grounding. One paragraph with Floridi's concession and a brief coda. One paragraph transitioning to Zahavy. That's 10 paragraphs. If the character of the training data is set aside as irrelevant detail, the case against LLMs is closed. But the training data cannot be set aside, because the probabilities are learned there. In this sense, the calibration available to a model trained on philosophy is not merely inherited but self-grounding: the justifications for the evaluative standards are themselves part of the corpus that embodies them.
Floridi et al. raise the question that our argument turns on, asking whether it matters that the process was different if an AI "can generate the same explanatory hypothesis a human would". Their answer — that "from an epistemological standpoint, perhaps yes", but "regarding the content of the hypothesis and our interpretation of it, maybe not" (2024, p. 12) — opens more than they allow. In philosophy, assessing the content of a hypothesis and its explanatory power is not a secondary concern; it is what philosophical evaluation consists in. Blind review already embodies this thought in institutional form: arguments are assessed on the page, not by reconstructing the cognitive history of their production. Lipton makes a related point about levels of description when he suggests that arguing "that Inference to the Best Explanation is wrong because Bayesianism is right is like arguing that thinking about technique cannot help my squash game because the motion of the ball is governed by the laws of mechanics" (2004, p. 108). The mechanistic description of what an LLM does and the philosophical assessment of what it produces operate at different levels. To describe the output as the result of stochastic prediction is to give one true description of what is happening; it is not to show that no other description applies. A passage may still handle an objection well, or leave a subject in clearer view than it found it. Those are assessments of the same text at the level at which philosophical prose is ordinarily judged.
None of this yields the conclusion that every LLM response to a philosophical prompt is good philosophy. Generic prompts produce generic continuations, and hedging, survey, and boilerplate are easy resting points that models find often enough. The philosophical resources latent in the training data are not expressed in every output; whether a given output succeeds is an empirical matter, to be judged case by case. But the mechanistic description of LLM processing — true as it is — is not exhaustive. In a domain where quality is partly encoded in the surviving corpus, statistical continuation can carry more philosophical weight than Floridi et al.'s diagnosis suggests. A different objection remains, however, and it cuts at a different level. Philosophy may depend, at certain points, on starting materials that are not available in any corpus of articulated language — on experience, perception, or encounter with the world that cannot be reduced to propositions already in the literature. Zahavy (2026) presses there, and his challenge requires a different kind of response.

The ¶4 (extension to philosophy) may need to be split. It's the longest paragraph and does two things: establishes that philosophical work is in the writing, and develops the "textual afterlife" image. If it reads as overloaded in the manuscript, splitting after "abductive evaluation" would be natural.
The Walton paragraph (¶8) is lighter than the others. It could be folded into ¶7 (what the corpus is filtered for), which would bring the total to 11 paragraphs. I kept it separate because the move it makes is distinct — not what the corpus is filtered for but HOW those standards enter the text — but this is a judgment call.
The self-grounding paragraph (¶10) is the section's most original contribution. I've given it one paragraph. Whether it needs more development is worth considering — particularly whether the Voltaire worry about borrowed calibration (from Lipton) deserves explicit citation. But the paragraph is already doing a lot, and expanding it risks the same problem the current version has: too many moves at the same level.
