### User
Tomorrow is my appointment with the Questura to get a new Italian residency card. Information about this can be found in my vault. However I believe I need to rearrange this appointment because I lost my passport a week ago. Can you get yourself up to speed with my situation in both contexts, both card and passport? And then tell me how best you think I should proceed.
### Assistant
I’m pulling the relevant vault context for both the Questura appointment and the lost-passport situation. I’m using the `obsidian-cli` workflow first, then I’ll synthesize what your notes imply about the best next step.
### Assistant
I’ve confirmed the Obsidian CLI path and I’m checking which commands give the cleanest vault-wide retrieval for this. Next I’m searching your notes for the residency-card and passport threads, then I’ll tie them together into a recommendation.
### Assistant
The CLI doesn’t expose vault text search cleanly here, so I’m falling back to `obsidian eval` inside Obsidian rather than scraping files directly. I’m searching for note matches and snippets around `Questura`, `permesso`, `residence card`, `passport`, and `lost/stolen`.
### Assistant
The Obsidian bridge needs to write to its local state directory, and the read-only sandbox blocks that. I’m requesting permission to run the Obsidian CLI outside the sandbox so I can inspect the relevant notes and reconstruct the timeline accurately.
### Assistant
I’ve sent the Obsidian access request. Once that clears, I’ll pull the exact notes instead of guessing from filenames or memory.
### Assistant
`recents` confirms today’s relevant context but the CLI search path isn’t yielding content cleanly here. I’m falling back to direct vault reads for the text-search step so I can extract the actual details from your notes and not stall on the wrapper.
### Assistant
I’ve found the main strands. The key new fact is that the Questura duplicate-card appointment expects a passport in the document bundle, while your vault also shows a separate lost-passport thread starting on 17 March after Antwerp. I’m reading those notes now to see exactly where the two processes collide.
### Assistant
I have the factual overlap now: the duplicate-card appointment explicitly lists `Passport` as required, and your passport note says the passport was lost on 15 March and formally cancelled on 17 March. I’m checking whether your vault contains any plan for replacement timing or an emergency travel document, because that determines whether tomorrow’s appointment is salvageable or should be moved.
### Assistant
I have enough to give you a defensible recommendation, but I’m grabbing line references for the exact points in your notes and the official pages before I close the loop.
### Assistant
You have two separate admin threads that now collide.
For the residency-card side, your vault shows a `duplicato` appointment at the Milan Questura for **Wednesday 25 March 2026 at 09:30**, Via Montebello 26, Sportello 1, and the document list explicitly includes **`Passport`** as item 1, plus the pre-Brexit registration proof, payment receipt, 4 photos, and the denuncia for the lost card. See [Gather materials for Questura appointment](/Users/nickyoung/My%20Obsidian%20Vault/TaskNotes/Tasks/Gather%20materials%20for%20Questura%20appointment.md#L14) and [Lost Permesso di Soggiorno - Denuncia Guide](/Users/nickyoung/My%20Obsidian%20Vault/Notes/Lost%20Permesso%20di%20Soggiorno%20-%20Denuncia%20Guide.md#L59). For the passport side, your vault shows the passport was lost in Antwerp around **15 March 2026**, reported to Belgian police and HM Passport Office, and HMPO marked it **cancelled on 17 March 2026**; your own next-step note still says `Apply for new passport`. See [Lost Passport – Tracking](/Users/nickyoung/My%20Obsidian%20Vault/Notes/Lost%20Passport%20%E2%80%93%20Tracking.md#L13).
My view: **yes, you should assume the Questura appointment needs to be rearranged unless the Questura explicitly tells you they will accept some substitute for the passport.** A cancelled passport is not a usable passport, and I would not gamble on them accepting the Belgian police report or HMPO cancellation email in place of the required identity document. GOV.UK also says a lost/stolen passport is cancelled and that from abroad you should either apply for an overseas replacement passport or, if travel is urgent and replacement will not arrive in time, an emergency travel document may be possible: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/lost-stolen-and-recovered-passports-lsr-team-policy/lost-stolen-and-recovered-passports-lsr-team-accessible, https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports, https://www.gov.uk/travel-urgently-from-abroad-without-uk-passport.
Best course:
1. **Today, try to move the Questura appointment** in `PrenotaFacile` if that is possible from your booking.
2. **Also contact the Questura immediately** at `
[email protected]`, but I would treat that as low-probability for a timely reply.
3. **Start the overseas passport replacement now** if you have not already.
4. If you need a document urgently for travel within 6 weeks, check whether an **Emergency Travel Document** is available, but I would treat it as a travel workaround, not as proof that the Questura will process the duplicato with it.
If you want, I can do the next practical step and draft:
- a short Italian email to the Questura asking whether the appointment can proceed without a valid passport, and
- a short English checklist for the HMPO overseas replacement application.
### User
Btw, as a precaution, you should be checking that the passport really is required for tomorrow's appointment don't just use the vault. Use up-to-date online information as well.
### Assistant
I’m verifying the passport requirement against current official sources now, not just your vault. I’ll check the live UK-citizens/Withdrawal-Agreement guidance and tell you where the evidence is firm versus where it’s inferred.
### Assistant
Yes. I checked beyond the vault, and the current official evidence points the same way: **a valid passport is normally required**.
What I could verify:
- The current GOV.UK page for UK nationals in Italy, updated **10 April 2025**, says the biometric Withdrawal Agreement card is issued by the local `questura`, and points people to the Italian government `vademecum` for how to obtain it: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/italy-how-to-register-for-the-biometric-residency-card/biometric-residency-card-carta-di-soggiorno-elettronica-for-uk-nationals-living-in-italy-before-1-january-2021
- An official Questura PDF for the same WA residence-card process says under `DOCUMENTAZIONE DA ALLEGARE`: `Passaporto in originale in corso di validità`, plus 4 photos, the `€30.46` payment receipt, anagrafe proof, and related documents: https://questure.poliziadistato.it/statics/14/modulo-editabile-carta-di-soggiorno-brexit-con-traduzione.pdf
- Your Milan appointment materials match that exact structure: [Lost Permesso di Soggiorno - Denuncia Guide](/Users/nickyoung/My%20Obsidian%20Vault/Notes/Lost%20Permesso%20di%20Soggiorno%20-%20Denuncia%20Guide.md#L67) and [Gather materials for Questura appointment](/Users/nickyoung/My%20Obsidian%20Vault/TaskNotes/Tasks/Gather%20materials%20for%20Questura%20appointment.md#L16)
What I could not verify cleanly:
- I tried to open the **Milan Questura** page directly, but the Polizia site is currently blocking automated access with an anti-bot “Accesso negato” page. So I do **not** have a live Milan webpage I can quote line-for-line today.
My conclusion:
- I would still proceed on the assumption that **tomorrow’s 25 March 2026 appointment requires a valid original passport**, not just any identity proof.
- Since your passport note says the passport was lost around **15 March 2026** and cancelled on **17 March 2026**, I would treat the appointment as **at serious risk of failing unless Milan explicitly tells you otherwise**. See [Lost Passport – Tracking](/Users/nickyoung/My%20Obsidian%20Vault/Notes/Lost%20Passport%20%E2%80%93%20Tracking.md#L13).
So the tighter recommendation is:
- **Do not rely on the appointment being fine without a passport.**
- **Try today to contact/rebook Milan Questura**, because the best current official evidence supports the passport requirement.
- In parallel, **start the overseas replacement passport process immediately**: https://www.gov.uk/world/passports-and-emergency-travel-documents
If you want, I can now draft a very short Italian message for the Questura asking exactly this:
`Ho appuntamento domani 25 marzo 2026 per duplicato carta di soggiorno Art. 50 TUE, ma il mio passaporto è stato smarrito e annullato il 17 marzo. Posso presentarmi con denuncia e prova dell’annullamento, oppure devo riprenotare?`
### User
I am on the website looking how to rearrange. take a look at the screenshot and tell me where to go.
(obviously i have started the procedure to get a replacement passport you fucking idiot. )
### Assistant
Use the `Ricerca` box.
Type one of:
- `britannici`
- `recesso`
- `Art. 50`
- `duplicato`
You are currently on the generic `Immigrazione` service list, page `1`, and the UK Withdrawal Agreement option is not visible in the items shown. Most likely it is either:
- filtered out until you search, or
- on page `2` at the bottom.
So do this:
1. Click the `Ricerca` field.
2. Search `britannici` first.
3. If nothing appears, click page `2` at the bottom and search again.
4. Look for the service corresponding to UK citizens / `Accordo di recesso` / `Art. 50 TUE`, then click the arrow on the right.
If you want to rearrange an existing booking rather than create a fresh one, the better place may be the calendar icon in the top-right or your account menu (`YOUNG NICHOLAS IAN`) for `Le mie prenotazioni`. If the search results look wrong, go there next.
### User
?
### Assistant
Yes. Click the **top option**.
That is the service for:
`Rilascio titolo di soggiorno per i cittadini del Regno Unito ... beneficiari dell'Accordo di recesso`
That is your track, not the family-members one underneath.
Then:
1. Click the arrow on the right of the **top option**.
2. On the next screen, look for the structure/office at `Via Montebello` or `Ufficio Immigrazione`.
3. Then check whether it offers `duplicato`, `modifica`, or a new slot.
If you’re trying to change an existing booking and the next screen looks like a fresh booking flow only, back out and go to the **calendar icon top right** or your **name menu** for your existing reservations.
### User
actually, i found the place where i think i can edit the appointmnet
### Assistant
Yes. The **pencil icon** on the right is the place to try first.
Use this order:
1. Click the **pencil**.
2. If it opens a reschedule flow, choose a new date.
3. If the pencil only edits ancillary details and not the date, back out and use the **trash icon** to cancel, then rebook immediately.
Before deleting, I’d expand the row with the little **down-arrow on the far left** once, just in case it shows whether modification is allowed or any conditions.
Do **not** delete first unless you’ve confirmed there are other slots available or the pencil won’t let you move it.
### User
please move the appointment on my calendar from 9.30 tomorrow to "15-05-2026 09:15" i did it.
### Assistant
I’m updating the calendar event from **Wednesday 25 March 2026 09:30** to **Friday 15 May 2026 09:15**. I’m using the `gws-calendar` workflow so I can move the existing event rather than create a duplicate.
### Assistant
I’ve loaded the calendar skill. Next I’m locating the exact event on your calendar so I can patch that event rather than guessing from the title.
### Assistant
I found the exact event on your primary calendar. I’m patching that existing booking now from **25 March 2026 09:30–10:30** to **15 May 2026 09:15–10:15**.
### Assistant
Moved. The calendar event now starts **Friday 15 May 2026 at 09:15** and ends **10:15** in `Europe/Rome`. The existing Questura event was updated in place, not duplicated.
### User

I’m adding the DHL return-shipment details to the passport tracking note, with the delivery destination and the exact delivery timestamp/location preserved. First I’m reading the current note so I can slot the new facts into the existing timeline cleanly.
### Assistant
I’ve got the DHL details. I’m updating the passport note with the waybill, the addressee and destination, and the delivery chain on **18 March 2026** so the record has the full courier trail rather than just the loss/cancellation steps.
### Assistant
Added to [Lost Passport – Tracking](/Users/nickyoung/My%20Obsidian%20Vault/Notes/Lost%20Passport%20%E2%80%93%20Tracking.md).
The key facts now recorded are:
- DHL waybill: `6813537754`
- Piece ID: `JD014600012567874934`
- Shipped on **17 March 2026 at 14:57**
- Addressed to: `HM PASSPORT OFFICE - INTEDP-LS, Three Cherry Trees Lane, PEX 540 7568964, Hemel Hempstead, HP2 7HQ, United Kingdom`
- Delivered on **18 March 2026 at 09:55 UTC** in **Hemel Hempstead, UK**
I also added the intermediate DHL route:
- `London-Heathrow` transit at **05:40 UTC**
- departed `London-Heathrow` at **06:52 UTC**
- arrived `Dunstable` branch at **08:12 UTC**
- out for delivery from `Dunstable` at **09:06 UTC**
### User
This is the complete delivery record, please add it to my vault.
### Assistant
I’m adding the full DHL trail, including the earlier Heathrow transit step that wasn’t in the note yet. I’ll fold it into the passport tracking note so the courier record is complete in one place.
### Assistant
I duplicated the Heathrow transit line while patching. I’m cleaning that up so the timeline is single-source and not messy.
### Assistant
Added the full DHL delivery trail to [Lost Passport – Tracking](/Users/nickyoung/My%20Obsidian%20Vault/Notes/Lost%20Passport%20%E2%80%93%20Tracking.md).
It now includes the complete UK-side sequence on **18 March 2026**:
- **05:40 UTC** — in transit at `London-Heathrow`
- **06:52 UTC** — departed `London-Heathrow`
- **08:12 UTC** — arrived at delivery branch in `Dunstable`
- **09:06 UTC** — out for delivery from `Dunstable`
- **09:55 UTC** — delivered in `Hemel Hempstead`
The delivery destination and identifiers remain recorded there as well:
- `HM PASSPORT OFFICE - INTEDP-LS, Three Cherry Trees Lane, PEX 540 7568964, Hemel Hempstead, HP2 7HQ`
- waybill `6813537754`
- piece ID `JD014600012567874934`

You can see the chat I have just had has been downloaded to my downloads folder. Please add that to my vault and update various notes as well. For some reason you have real difficulty finding the most recent note added to a folder. So I'll give you a hand. It was added a moment ago and its name is Transcript and it is a PDF. The file. Transcript with a small t.
### Assistant
I’m loading the file-handling instructions first, then I’ll pull the new `Transcript.pdf` from Downloads into the vault and update the passport-related notes from its contents.
### Assistant
I’m locating `Transcript.pdf` in Downloads with the required indirection pattern, then I’ll bring it into the vault and extract what needs updating in your notes.
### Assistant
I found the file: `~/Downloads/transcript.pdf`, modified at **14:57** today. I’m extracting its text now so I can decide where it belongs in the vault and which notes need updating from its contents.
### Assistant
The transcript gives one material new fact: on **24 March 2026** HM Passport Office said they put a note on your application and asked you to allow **1 more working day** for the documents to appear in their system. I’m checking the existing passport task so I can update the right notes, not just dump the PDF somewhere.
### Assistant
I’m requesting permission to copy the downloaded PDF into your vault `Attachments` folder so the transcript itself is preserved there, not just summarized in notes.
### Assistant
The PDF is now in the vault. I’m updating the passport tracking note, the passport-office task, and today’s daily note with the new HMPO chat outcome and a link to the transcript PDF.
### Assistant
Added the PDF to the vault as [HM Passport Office Chat Transcript - 2026-03-24.pdf](/Users/nickyoung/My%20Obsidian%20Vault/Attachments/HM%20Passport%20Office%20Chat%20Transcript%20-%202026-03-24.pdf).
I also updated:
- [Lost Passport – Tracking](/Users/nickyoung/My%20Obsidian%20Vault/Notes/Lost%20Passport%20%E2%80%93%20Tracking.md) with the application-submitted date, the 24 March HMPO chat, the agent name, and the instruction to allow one more working day
- [chase up the passport office](/Users/nickyoung/My%20Obsidian%20Vault/TaskNotes/Tasks/chase%20up%20the%20passport%20office.md) so it now points to **Thursday 26 March 2026** if the documents still are not marked received
- [2026-03-24.md](/Users/nickyoung/My%20Obsidian%20Vault/Daily%20Notes/2026-03-24.md) with an action entry for the transcript and note updates
The key new fact now recorded is: on **24 March 2026**, HM Passport Office agent **Omotolani** said a note was added to the application and you should allow **1 more working day** for the documents to appear in their system.
