I interpret the throughline as: in the dedicated paper chromatic illumination is a general thesis in philosophy of mind (background information colors experience without being represented); in the dialogue Horgan puts that same mechanism to work inside the phenomenology of agency — the reasons one acts for are often appreciated chromatically rather than represented. It's not surprising on reflection — Spener is a noted skeptic about the evidential reliability of introspection, and chromatic illumination is a thesis built squarely on trusting introspective report ("the vividness and immediacy of joke-getting experience confer a strong methodological presumption on the default hypothesis that the deliverances of introspection are reliable," the paper says). I fixed one real bug in its wrapper (`gws-gmail-send.py` pointed at a stale `gws` path). But there's a second problem I can't get past: that wrapper passes the whole base64-encoded message as a single command-line argument, and an 851 KB EPUB base64s to ~1.5 MB — over the OS argument limit.
