They always give me just a handful of variables, and they don't really change things that much. There is no ambition. I suddenly remembered this when I saw this generative art on the web just now. I am NOT saying that I want something that makes *this* style of generative art, but I want something that is capable of making very, very diverse stuff, with the quality of this. This is now the core of the tool. Every system declares its own schema, so the panel repopulates with native controls when you switch: Field Lines gets mode/strokes/trail length/curl/flow scale/width/color mapping/debris; Strange Attractor gets a 99-position variant dial, map type, exposure, iteration depth; Contour Survey gets levels, terrain scale, field type (noise/island/ridge/basin), index-line frequency, summit stippling; Ridgelines gets envelope shape, peak position and width, amplitude; and so on — roughly 6–9 live controls per system, 80+ across the twelve. Variation rerolls them; every slider re-renders instantly; the values shown are the actual values used. Animation. Six systems animate, each in the way native to it: Field Lines becomes a living particle flow with fading trails, Strange Attractor accumulates its density map in front of you, Halftone pulses its interference field, Contours crawl, Ridgelines drift, Botanica sways. The Animate button disables itself on the six genuinely static systems rather than faking it. Exports still work mid-animation (they freeze the current moment). Format/composition/margin: gone from the UI entirely. Fixed portrait, occasional automatic slim margin, nothing to fiddle with. Palettes: cut Meadow Fog, Tidal Chalk, Terracotta, Ukiyo and the other weak light ones. Now 14 dark palettes (including new ones — Sodium Night, Bruise, Abyssal, Slasher, Static) weighted 3:1 over the four surviving light ones, and the generated-palette mode leans dark too. I verified everything in a live browser: all twelve systems render without errors, all three animation modes visibly run, parameter edits re-render, the contact sheet produces nine works, and the console stays clean. I also fixed a real bug found in testing — renders deadlocked in hidden/background tabs because of requestAnimationFrame throttling. On the knowledge file: it genuinely has no coverage of visual art, music, or your film taste outside horror. Two heavyweight new systems that classic generative art is famous for and APOPHENIA lacks: Mycelium (a physarum/slime-mold agent simulation — thousands of organisms depositing and following trails, growing vein networks) and Morphogen (Gray–Scott reaction-diffusion — Turing patterns that split, crawl and self-organize). Both simulate natively, so their animation is the system itself running. 2. Duets — layer any two systems with blend modes and masks. Multiplies the whole space combinatorially. 3. Breeding — a 3×3 grid of mutations of the current work; click to select, iterate. Interactive evolution instead of slider fiddling. 4. Video recording (WebM) of any animation, plus copyable recipes so an exact tweaked work is reproducible. You control sense angle, sense reach, turn rate, pace, trail decay, deposit — the classic physarum parameter space, where small changes flip it between lace, veins, and cellular froth. - Morphogen — Gray–Scott reaction-diffusion: real Turing patterns that divide, crawl and self-organize. Feed and kill sliders move you between mitosis, coral, worms, mazes and solitons, and you can nudge them live while the simulation runs, which is the closest thing this tool has to playing an instrument. Four seeding patterns, edge-detection coloring. Plus three capabilities that multiply everything that already existed: - Duets — layer any two systems with blend modes (screen, multiply, overlay, difference...) and masks (radial, noise-field, split). Field Lines × Contour Survey was the first one I rendered during testing and it already looked like a third system that doesn't exist in the list. Fourteen systems gives you 182 ordered pairings before you touch a parameter. - Breed — mutates the current work into a 3×3 litter (parent in the centre), click one to adopt it, breed again. Directed evolution through the parameter space instead of dragging sliders. - Record — captures any animation to WebM video. And Recipe copies the complete state — seed, every parameter, duet setup — as JSON you can paste back into the seed box later, so a tweaked work is no longer lost the moment you touch anything. All verified live: both simulations render statically (0.2–0.6s bakes) and animate, duet compositing works with the plaque showing the pairing, nine mutation renders completed without error, recipes round-trip, VP9 encoding confirmed, console clean.
