# Awareness Without Time
**Opening (not a real abstract):** Awareness without Time 1. Introduction In recent years, contemporary philosophers with an interest in consciousness have turned their attention towards ‘fringe states’ of consciousness. Some examples may include dreams, trances and deep meditative states. Teetering between wakefulness and non-consciousness, fringe states illuminate the limits and boundaries of consciousness. This paper will focus on “fully absorbed” deep meditative states. If we take reports about meditation by meditators seriously, then deep meditative states seem to constitute ‘pure consciousness experiences’, experiences that are wakeful but contentless. According to Thomas Metzinger’s recent seminal article (2020), these experiences might be ‘minimally phenomenal experiences’ which may be integral parts of any experience
