Discussions of the transparency of perceptual experience are concerned with whether—and if so how—I am aware of anything in addition to the mug and its greenness, in particular, whether I am aware of any features of the experience itself. Hoerl’s main claim is that perceptual experience is transparent in a particularly strong sense with respect to temporal properties. This breaks down into two subclaims. Subclaim 1: perceptual experience is ‘not temporally viewpointed’. Subclaim 2: temporally speaking, perceptual experience ‘lacks any positive structural features’.
