# Imagination and intuition in the epistemology of counterfactuals NAME **Abstract:** Among those who claim that (rational) intuitions are a source of evidence, it has been argued that there is no reason to posit imaginative exercises as a source of evidence in the epistemology of modality (Tidman 1994, Bealer 2002, 2004, Fiocco 2007). They favor an alternative account in which whenever the relevant imaginative exercises precede the acquisition of knowledge of possibility (or impossibility), there are accompanying intuitions of (im)possibility, which provide the evidence. I show how Williamson’s (2007) reduction of the epistemology of modality to the epistemology of counterfactuals can be used to respond to their argument.! !
