# SYNT-D-20-01500_reviewer (1) **Keywords:** Representationalism, Neural correlates of consciousness, object perception, object files, multiple object tracking (MOT), Multimodal binding failures **Abstract:** Is it possible to experience an object with which you are interacting through your sensory systems without those systems constructing a representation of the object? I argue that it is. My argument draws on two cases, viewing nearby medium-sized groups of objects and hearing objects through misbound sounds, which bring out two different ways object representation can fail while object experience survives. Based on these cases I propose that object experience requires only that the object be revealed through the flow of sensory information. I argue that constructing object representations is one way sensory systems can reveal objects, but not the only way. Object representation is demanding, rare, and fragile, while object experience is easy, pervasive, and robust.
