# Waterfall clotilde **Abstract:** The Waterfall Illusion occurs when we look at a waterfall or another moving body for an extended period of time and then look at a stationary object. In one traditional description of the experience (Crane 1988, Sorensen 2004, Dainton 2017, Siegel 2016), the stationary object appears to move and not to move at the same time – thus the experience has a contradictory content. Is there a way to account for this phenomenon that avoids the unpalatable consequence that we can perceptually represent contradictions? if we do not accept contradictory contents for perception, how should we account for motion experience in this peculiar situation? I argue that the only theory of motion experience that does not harbour this consequence is the dynamic snapshot theory.
