**Opening (not a real abstract):** Introspecting Perceptual Experience 7.1 Introduction Introspecting is like any action: there are contexts in which it is reliably successful and contexts in which it reliably is not. Intentionally introspecting experience informs many areas of philosophy and science. It involves a subject’s accessing her mind in a first-personal way. In this generalize to any use of introspection of experience and of how things phenomenally seem. When reflecting on the mind from the armchair or as part of an experiment, we introspectively detect and discriminate aspects of our subjective life to report what they are like for us.
