The aim now is to turn the gaze more inwards and explore how the prediction error framework can be of use in understanding deep and puzzling aspects of the mind. In this chapter, I discuss the nature of attention and its puzzling relation to conscious perception. In the next chapter, I link prediction error to theories of consciousness and perceptual unity.
