- Summary: The modern philosophy of mind and cognitive neuroscience are working together to challenge the concept of the self. Conscious experience is an internal construct and a selective way of representing information. The process of conscious experience is like a tunnel through reality and is a form of conscious representational content. Conscious experience is a large-scale, unified phenomenon emerging from a myriad of physical micro-events. The sense of ownership and incorporating visual images into the bodily self-model are fundamental to the feeling of being someone.
