While talk of experience is common in work on [[aesthetic appreciation]], it is normally in the context of having an [[aesthetic experience]]. If we are to aesthetically appreciate our own consciousness, it is questionable how much of normal models of [[aesthetic appreciation]] can be applied. [[The idea]] that we appreciate our [[mental states]] in the same way that we appreciate external objects via perception risks bringing with it metaphors of seeing with one's mind's eye.
Various [[alternative models]] derived from [[environmental aesthetics]] (e.g., object model, landscape model, environment model) could be considered for [[the appreciation]] of consciousness.
Work on attention and [[Transparency]] might yield other models.
